Nautical upholstery specialist Neptune acquired by Nick Mulder
Nautical interiors company Neptune has been acquired by Nick Mulder, owner of Mulder Shipyard. According to the press release, the acquisition provides a strong foundation to further grow Neptune and build on its success.
Neptune specialises in seating, lounge and bedroom upholstery for pleasure craft and superyachts, as well as bespoke solutions for shipbuilding projects. Based in Zwaagdijk-Oost, the Netherlands, with another base in Palma de Mallorca, the company has been the atelier producing mattresses, cushions and lounge sofas for the maritime industry for over 30 years from its workshop.
From design to production, everything at Neptune takes place in its workshop, which includes a modern machine park and a large material inventory.
The current owner of Neptune, Marcel Botman, will take a step back, with Mulder continuing operations of the company. Matthijs Jonker will run the day-to-day management of Neptune, while Martin Mast will also remain with the organisation.
Botman said:
“It was essential for me that Neptune would be in good hands. With Mulder, I have full confidence that the company, the team and our clients will be continued and further developed in the right way.”
Nick Mulder is an expert in the shipbuilding industry with 15+ years experience in the design, development, construction and delivery of luxury yachts. Neptune has been a trusted partner of Mulder Shipyard over the years, prior to the acquisition.
Mulder Shipyard, with its HQ in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk, has been operating since 1938. The family-owned shipyard builds both custom and semi-custom yachts, with the series including the ThirtySix, Favorite 2200, 1500, 2000 and Favorite Fast.
The Mulder ThirtySix, Hull 9 departed the shipyard in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk for sea trials in May, following her official launch in March.
Mulder commented:
“Neptune is a strong and respected company within the nautical sector.
“It is precisely the combination of craftsmanship, quality and the close-knit team that makes it special. The strength of Neptune will be fully preserved, where we will provide targeted support in further growth and development.”
Following the acquisition, all trading by the upholstery specialist will continue under the Neptune branding.
