Ahoy Club acquires significant stake in Ray White Marine
The Australian charter and brokerage company Ahoy Club has acquired a significant stake in Ray White Marine, an international yacht brokerage and new vessel distributor.
Ray White Marine was established in 1902 by the Rodwell family in Queensland, initially concentrating on real estate. It now boasts 1,200 individual offices across Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, China, the Middle East and the USA, and is supported by the White family of the largest property group in Australasia.
The business has since expanded into the marine sector, and has become a luxury yacht specialist, through its exclusive Australia and New Zealand distributorship rights of Ferretti Group, which includes the iconic Riva Yachts brand, innovative Sunreef Yachts luxury catamarans and Technohull high performance offshore tenders.
Brock Rodwell has succeeded his father Rick Rodwell to become CEO of Ray White Marine. Mr Rodwell Snr will remain with the business in a sales capacity, to ensure his experience continues to benefit the group.
Ahoy Club was founded in 2018 by the Malouf family from Sydney, Australia, and now has the world’s largest online selection of over 3,000 yachts, together with industry-leading chartering technology.
The merger was overseen by Ahoy Club Managing Director Ian Malouf and CEO Ellie Malouf, and will see the company increase its market share in Australia and New Zealand, increasing its global presence.
Rodwell said:
“Ray White Marine is excited to join forces with Ellie and her team at Ahoy Club. In a short period of time they have become a main player in our industry when it comes to charter and professional yacht management, and integrating a proven sales team was the next natural step.
“The merger will complement each business in many ways others won’t be able to match.”

Ray White Marine will continue to carry all the new vessel brands and brokerage divisions, whilst Ahoy Club will focus on yacht charters, management and larger scale superyacht sales. As Ahoy Club continues its journey to grow the yacht brokerage division globally, Brock Rodwell will also lead the global brand as Head of Yacht Sales for Ahoy Club, Asia-Pacific.
Ellie Malouf commented:
“Combining the strengths of both companies opens new opportunities for collaboration and innovation in this space. We’ve made this decision to strengthen our customer offering and to drive expansion.
“Strategically for us, having more experts available in key locations is an important part of this merger. Clients will now be able to access us across several offices in Australia and New Zealand, including Double Bay and Elizabeth Bay in Sydney, the Gold Coast, Auckland CBD, The Whitsundays and our the prestige showroom in Melbourne with Zagame Automotive Group.”
