Company: Cantiere del Pardo
Business Type: Boat Builder
The boatbuilder, which is based in Forlì, Italy, manufactures sailing and motor yachts, and was acquired by Italian private equity fund Wise Equity in 2020, which purchased a 60 per cent stake for an undisclosed sum.
Cantiere del Pardo’s historical managers, Fabio Planamente and Gigi Servidati, will maintain a minority stake in the company and remain partners of the company.
Planamente commented:
“The acquisition by Calzedonia Group marks the beginning of a new chapter in Cantiere del Pardo’s long and illustrious history of achievements. We are deeply honoured that such an esteemed and prestigious Italian entity has chosen to invest in our shipyard.”
Cantiere del Pardo was established in 1973, and has launched over 5,000 boats, initially under the Grand Soleil brand, adding the Pardo Yachts and VanDutch Yachts brands more recently.
The shipyard is spread over an indoor area of 40,000 square metres and is divided into three macro-departments – millwork, which utilises state-of-the-art technologies and processes; carpentry, using traditional manual skills; and assembly, where all components are meticulously pieced together until final testing in the large trial pool.
Cantiere del Pardo says it will pursue international growth and the development of new models, with the Calzedonia Group on board, while continuing to invest in sustainability, innovation, and research and development.
Planamente continued:
“With the valuable contributions made by Wise Fund throughout the shipyard’s growth journey, we are now more motivated and resolute in facing forthcoming challenges and new projects, benefiting from the solid foundation of an Italian Group with proven entrepreneurial capabilities, further establishing Cantiere del Pardo and its brands as global yachting excellence under the Made in Italy banner.”
