Power conversion specialist Magnus Marine acquired by Mission Critical Electronics

Mission Critical Electronics (MCE) has acquired Magnus Marine, a leading provider of high-power shore power conversion and advanced hybrid power solutions for mega yachts.

Together, ASEA and Magnus will drive innovation in sustainable maritime solutions, setting new standards for environmental responsibility while expanding their global reach.

It has been supplying the marine industry, including commercial, military, recreational and workboats, for over 50 years

Operating in the marine sector under brands Xantrex, Newmar Power, Asea Power Systems, this strategic acquisition of Magnus Marine further strengthens MCE Marine’s position as the global leader in marine power solutions for the superyacht industry, broadening its product portfolio and European presence to better meet the evolving demands of the marine industry.

Kevin Moschetti, Chief Executive Officer of Mission Critical Electronics, said:

Integrating Magnus Marine ’s advanced hybrid power systems and energy storage technologies into ASEA’s existing portfolio enhances system efficiency, reduces emissions, and optimises power management for modern marine applications.

Richard Gaudet, President of MCE Marine Power, continued:

Magnus Marine is based in Wymondham, UK, and designs and manufactures state-of-the-art, bespoke, marine power conversion systems including quality shore-to-ship converters, hybrid generators, energy storage systems, frequency converters and systems to protect sensitive on-board equipment.

Every Magnus system is engineered precisely for an individual yacht and its power requirements. Magnus uses a standard platform where each unit is customised for the client to unique specifications, addressing both the engineering and commercial requirements.

Facilities in its purpose-built workshops include 3D-modelling design and manufacture, clean manufacturing and in-house test facilities. It is able to fully test, under load, every element of the systems as it builds them – a facility that is unique in the industry.

Matthew Scales, Managing Director of Magnus Marine, commented:

Following the acquisition, Magnus Marine’s existing management team and workforce will remain in place.
