Company: Aquafax, Arleigh International
Business Type: Distribution
With its headquarters based in Luton, Aquafax is one of the UK’s leading wholesale distributors of marine equipment and has a network of six regional depots strategically located around the UK.
Aquafax supplies all sectors of the marine industry, from marine engineers to the largest boat builders. Its product range also lends itself to applications outside the marine industry, including specialist vehicle builders, coach builders and plumbers as well as supplying into the mobile electricity solutions market and other general industrial applications.
Alastair Thomas, MD of Arleigh Group Ltd., said:
“Our acquisition of Aquafax further enhances our position as the leading marine distribution business in the UK. It also strengthens our Speciality Leisure Division. We will be looking to maximise synergies between Arleigh’s current well established marine businesses (Midland Chandlers and ASAP Supplies) and Aquafax with immediate effect whilst respecting the culture and markets which they have so successfully developed over the years. The businesses are all best in class with different skill sets and we are looking to learn from each other and use our huge buying power to best effect.”
Former Aquafax owner and current MD, Nigel Pearson, joined Aquafax as a sales rep in 1999 and completed a Management Buyout of the business with Andrew Mason in 2010. He will continue in his current role and says it will be very much business as usual.
“Arleigh is a complementary fit with Aquafax and the acquisition will bring many enhanced business opportunities. I’m very excited to be working closer with Alastair and the team at Arleigh, together with the teams at Midland Chandlers and A.S.A.P.”
Arleigh International began trading as in 1969 and will record sales this year of £50m. The Group acquired Marine Mart in 1997, Midland Chandlers in 2006 and A.S.A.P. Supplies in May 2017.
