Narrowboat holiday company Anglo Welsh acquires Sally Narrowboats

Anglo Welsh, the narrowboat holiday company, has acquired Sally Narrowboats, expanding its canal boat hire offering to the Kennet and Avon Canal at Bradford-on-Avon Marina in Wiltshire.

Anglo Welsh, which has been offering canal boat hire for 55 years, is one of the UK’s largest narrowboat holiday companies covering England and Wales. Operating out of 11 different locations, ranging from Bath in the South West to Bunbury in the North, there is a choice of 160 vessels, from two berth to twelve berths. Narrowboat day hire is also available.

Situated in the Bradford-on-Avon Marina, Sally Narrowboats offers a fleet of 19 narrowboats, from two to 10 berths, available for a holiday or day hire. Clients can also order a full afternoon tea to enjoy on board.

The site also includes a boatyard which offers a wide range of marine and mechanical services.

Carl Cowlishaw, Operations Director for Anglo Welsh, said:

This acquisition follows Anglo Welsh’s purchase of Silsden Boats, on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in West Yorkshire, in 2022, offering wide beam boats as well as narrowboats for hire, along with boatbuilding facilities. The company has recently built three new 60ft Ocean Class cruiser stern narrowboats for their fleet there. For up to 10 people they are available to hire from Bradford-on-Avon, Bunbury and Great Haywood.
