Company: PW Defence, WesCom
Business Type: Manufacturer
The company, a UK-based distress signal manufacturer, says the acquisition will enable it to expand its defence product portfolio and international sales network, whilst benefitting from new manufacturing and testing facilities.
WesCom, headquartered in Hampshire, has a long history in the defence market and is the supplier of choice for specialist pyrotechnic signalling and illumination, training and simulation and obstacle clearance products. It is a leading manufacturer and supplier of SOLAS, MED and USCG approved pyrotechnic marine distress signals to the commercial and leisure marine markets.
The company works with leading authorities and government bodies, to campaign for best practice at sea – from the safe disposal of flares to raising awareness about counterfeit products and the importance of carrying the best quality safety equipment on board at all times.
With its similar heritage and respected product range, including illumination, signalling, search and rescue, screening, training, security and high energy products, Derbyshire-based PW Defence is a natural fit.
PW Defence was established in 1949 and supplies UK MoD, NATO allies and friendly nations and customers worldwide.
WesCom’s Chief Executive Officer Ross Wilkinson believes this acquisition will help to offer its services to a wider market.
He commented:
“This acquisition accomplishes a significant step forward in the strategy to expand our footprint within the global defence sector. It will enable the business to offer a much wider product portfolio to an expanded customer base.
“The purchase of PW Defence will allow us to further enhance our operational capability with a UK-based, high-class manufacturing and testing facility.”
