Suntex Marina Investors LLC (Suntex), in partnership with Centerbridge Partners, L.P. and its affiliates, has acquired Kinship Marina in Ventura, California, expanding Suntex’s presence in California.
Situated at the crossroads of Ventura’s historic downtown and the open-ocean adventure of the Channel Islands National Park, Kinship Marina is a full-service coastal destination. The property accommodates a diverse range of boaters with its premium wet slips and secure dry storage options, serving as a launchpad for both regional day-trippers and long-distance offshore cruisers.
The marina’s facilities include a restaurant, on-site full-service boatyard offering marine repair, refits, paint, metal work and marine mechanics. It also has a family-owned fuel dock and full-service waterfront market providing gas, diesel, live bait, tackle, and provisions, alongside a sportfishing charter operation offering multi-day excursions.
As part of its long-term plans for the property, Suntex intends to redevelop the marina’s wet slips, enhancing marina infrastructure.
Tom Derecktor, Partner for Kinship Marina and Derecktor Ventura Boatyard, commented:
“Kinship Marina has long been a special part of the Ventura boating community, and we are excited to see it jump to the highest level with Suntex. Their commitment to exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence, and first-class facilities will build upon the strong foundation established at the marina.
“We are confident this transition will enhance the property, create lasting value for boaters and guests, and preserve the unique character that makes Kinship Marina such a remarkable destination.”
Suntex is the owner and operator of recreational marina properties. It currently owns and operates a nationwide network of over 100 marina properties across the United States, including both inland and coastal locations such as Florida, California, Texas and the Great Lakes.
Michael Warntjes, Senior Vice President of Operations for Suntex Marinas, said:
“We are incredibly excited to establish a presence in Ventura Harbor and to invest in elevating Kinship Marina into a true best-in-class coastal destination.
“The harbor’s unique character and strategic location create a strong foundation for us to enhance the asset through thoughtful redevelopment and deliver an exceptional experience for both recreational and commercial vessel customers.”
Suntex’s press release states that, with the addition of Kinship Marina, Suntex continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering marina experiences in the nation’s most sought-after boating destinations. By combining local character with operational excellence, Suntex looks forward to building upon Kinship Marina’s strong reputation while enhancing the overall experience for boaters, guests, and the Ventura waterfront community for years to come.
