Company: Knight Boat Docks, S-K Marine
Business Type: Manufacturer
All S-K Marine’s full-time employees will be offered employment with Knight Boat Docks as Knight moves S-K manufacturing from Cusick to its Deer Park plant.
Norm Haikkila founded S-K Marine in 1975 as a fabricator of pontoon boats. Haikkila’s father, an engineer, designed the machinery used to fabricate the boats, which S-K built for nearly a decade. Noting the same pontoon floats could be used for docks, Haikkila gradually shifted the company’s focus onto dock fabrication.
Knight will retain the S-K Marine brand name in marketing the pontoon docks, which will be sold alongside Knight’s custom, marina-grade commercial docks and its consumer-focused EZ-Dock products. Knight is the exclusive EZ-Dock distributor throughout the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii, Northern California and Canada.
“The addition of pontoon docks both diversifies and enhances our marine product range. They’re solid, very stable, and perform particularly well in river current. Pontoon docks easily allow light to pass through their decking, which makes them an environmentally friendly option.”
Knight Boat Docks has been in business since 2007 and is a locally owned and operated company headquartered in Deer Park, Wash., manufacturing dock ramps, custom docks and custom fabricated aluminum parts.
