Marine lighting company Lumishore acquired by Garmin

Lumishore, the marine LED specialist, has been acquired by Garmin, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2008, Lumishore is renowned for its marine lighting solutions for leisure marine vessels and superyachts. It manufactures fully-integrated lighting systems for above and below the waterline.

Based in Swansea, with a distribution centre in Florida, the company designs and manufactures marine illuminations, including EOS underwater lights, the Eclipse lighting collection and control systems.

It also offers the Lumi-Cam, the world’s smallest Full HD Mega Pixel (1080p) underwater camera which can be mounted on the hull of a vessel.

Eifrion Evans, Lumishore’s Founder and CEO, said:

Garmin designs GPS navigation and wearable technology for the automotive, aviation, marine, outdoor and fitness markets. Products for the marine industry include fish finders, chart plotters, live sonar, antennas and radar. This includes the Spectra control module, which controls LED marine lighting from a compatible chartplotter or smartphone. It also offers apps and subscription plans.

Jarrod Seymour, Garmin’s Vice President and marine segment leader, said:

Following the acquisition, Lumishore’s employees will become part of the global Garmin workforce.
