French superyacht refit yard acquires Golfe-Juan shipyard

MB92 La Ciotat, the French superyacht refit yard, has acquired Golfe-Juan shipyard for an undisclosed sum.

Golfe-Juan shipyard is a 9,000m² site able to cater for yachts up to 45m, and the acquisition is a significant strategic step for MB92 Group looking to expand its presence in important boating locations around the world.

MB92 Group specialises in superyacht maintenance, refit and repair, with its La Ciotat shipyard in the South of France providing 1,600m of berthing, a 4,300t shiplift and 12,000m2 of dry dock space. With another shipyard operating in Barcelona and a new yacht repair centre located in Umm Al Hassani in the Red Sea launching this year, the business offers services such as electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, rigging and carpentry.

Rob Papworth, Managing Director at MB92 La Ciotat, said:

MB92 La Ciotat is working closely with the concession holder D-Marin, which has entrusted the group with operating the site, as well as the existing shipyard team who will remain to ensure a smooth transition and prepare the facility for its upcoming role within MB92’s growing operations.

This will involve upgrading health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, alongside significant investments in modernising the shipyard to align its operations with the group’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments, particularly regarding water treatment, waste management, and energy efficiency.
