North Technology Group acquires Sailmon

North Technology Group (NTG) has acquired sailing software manufacturer Sailmon for an undisclosed sum.

Founded by three-time Olympic sailor Kalle Coster and based in the Netherlands, Sailmon develops both hardware and software, including manufacturing customisable graphics displays and high-accuracy data processors for the sailing community. The processors, including the E4 range, deliver fast, accurate and reliable data, using algorithms designed and used by pro sailors, combining sailing data with advanced racing technology. All Sailmon equipment performs automatic over-the-air software updates.

The Salmon Sailing app caters to all watersports enthusiasts, offering real-time data, personal challenges, and video / photographic footage. It is focused on building a community, from kitesurfers, racers and explorers to recreational sailors, to share experiences and challenges.

Kim Coster, Managing Director of Sailmon, believes the acquisition will open up the company’s products to a wider market. He said:

North Technology Group originated in 1957 with North Sails, the global leader in sail-making. It has since taken on many other marine-related brands, including Southern Spars, Future Fibres, Hall Spars, Mystic Boarding, North Kiteboarding and EdgeWater Boats.

With this addition, NTG demonstrates its commitment to innovation and technology in the sailing industry. Sam Watson, Group CEO of NTG, commented:
