Offshore wind specialist DEME acquires Havfram

Offshore wind specialists Havfram has been acquired by Norwegian DEME, expanding DEME's presence in the offshore wind energy market and strengthening its competitive positioning in turbine and foundation installations.

The transaction is valued at approximately €900 million euros and was financed using a combination of external funding and internal resources. It sees DEME Offshore Holding NV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DEME Group NV, obtaining all shares in Havfram Wind Holdco AS from Sandbrook Capital and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments).

DEME, with its HQ in Belgium, is a leading contractor in offshore energy, environmental remediation, dredging and marine infrastructure. It also engages in concessions activities in offshore wind, marine infrastructure, green hydrogen, and deep-sea mineral harvesting. It operates wiith a team of more than 5,800 and a fleet of over 100 specialised vessels.

A DEME spokesperson said:

Havfram is an offshore energy infrastructure company focused on providing transport and installation services to the sector.

The company owns and operates Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (WTIVs) and is currently building two next-generation WTIVs that are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025 and early 2026 respectively.

With its HQ in Oslo, Norway, and an office in Stavanger, it operates with 60 core employees. The Havfram team will be integrated into DEME’s Offshore Energy segment under the DEME brand, while continuing to operate from its current location in Oslo.
