The Los Gallos Spanish SailGP Team has been acquired by the Quantum Pacific Group, marking a landmark moment for both the championship and Spanish sport. The transaction represents the largest-ever investment in a sailing team in Spain and underscores SailGP’s continued growth as a global, premium sports property.
SailGP is an annual, global sports league featuring inshore racing in harbours around the world, and culminates with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race. Rival national teams race in identical, supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense racing at speeds that exceed 50 knots (nearly 60 mph/100 kph).
The Los Gallos SailGP Team holds the record as the youngest team to compete in SailGP yet, after making its racing debut in Season 2. Champions of SailGP’s Season 4, Los Gallos is led by the Olympic champions partnership of driver Diego Botin and wing trimmer Florian Trittel. The team includes flight controller Joel Rodriguez, tactician and grinder Joan Cardona, strategist Nicole van der Velden, and grinder Bernardo Freitas.

The Quantum Pacific Group is an international group of businesses with significant interests in a wide range of industries globally, including shipping, power, chemicals and fertilisers, real estate and sports. Quantum Pacific primarily focuses on long-term asset-backed investments, with a goal to build and grow leading companies and organisations. Since 2017, sport has become a growing part of the Group’s portfolio and has a clear Iberian focus. Investments span a range of investments in established and emerging tier-1 leagues including Spanish football team Atlético de Madrid, Portuguese football team F.C. Famalicão, and the Spanish cycling team Movistar.
According to the press release, Quantum Pacific’s entry into SailGP reflects a natural evolution, investing in a next-generation, global racing championship aligned with innovation, impact and high-performance sport.

With the acquisition, Los Gallos becomes the 12th of 13 teams sold by SailGP, competing in the Rolex SailGP Championship this season. Spain is a key market for the league, with a rich sporting culture and a devoted fanbase that has embraced the high-speed, close-to-shore racing format. Following four successful seasons in Cádiz, the global sail racing championship will make its debut in Valencia on September 5-6, 2026.
As part of this acquisition, Quantum Pacific’s Amit Singh and Harry Odling will join the board of Los Gallos, further reflecting their commitment to the long-term success of the team. Tifosy Capital and Advisory is serving as financial advisor to Quantum Pacific. Uría Menéndez is serving as legal counsel to Quantum Pacific.
