Family-owned freight forwarder acquires international courier business
Family-owned and run Southampton Freight Services (SFS) has acquired international courier business EXPD International Ltd.
SFS Ltd, based in Totton, Southampton, was founded in 1998 and remains a fully independent, family-run freight forwarder and logistics provider, offering global services by air, sea, road and international courier, employing over 50 people.
This acquisition is the latest in a series of investments and initiatives in the last year set to enhance and expand the company’s range of global freight forwarding and logistics services. In the last 12 months, over £200,000 has been invested in new technologies and the latest equipment to continue to improve the global movement cargo.

EXPD has been in operation for over 20 years and occupies modern offices with accompanying warehouse and storage in Southampton, along with a global network of over 200 reciprocating brokerage and freight forwarding agencies worldwide.
Former Managing Director of EXPD Steve James will remain with the business in a consultancy capacity. He commented:

The acquisition brings a range of additional services for customers of both businesses including access to an established global network of partner offices, along with a wider and more flexible range of UK and international courier services.
Offerings will also include in-house completion of all HMRC/Customs work, operating a Transit Waiver Guarantee, and full accreditation for dangerous goods handling.
