Company: Suntex Marinas
Business Type: Marina Operator
Seaside Boatyard and Marina is a 17.1-acre, full-service boatyard and marina located in Oxnard, California, and is the company’s first acquisition in coastal California.
Consisting of a 122-slip marina accommodating boats from 30- to 60-feet, with 22 end ties able to accommodate boats up to 85-feet, as well as a 490-space dry storage facility, it is Ventura County’s largest recreational vessel boatyard.
The site is equipped to provide boaters with haul-out services for vessels up to 75-tons and is staffed to offer painting and finishing, fiberglass and woodwork, engine, mechanical and rigging repairs. Plans for the property include remodelling the main building, refurbishing and upgrading the facilities and infrastructure, and adding additional lighting to the dry storage area.
Suntex owns and manages an extensive network of saltwater and freshwater marinas in the United States, with its portfolio including marinas located in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee and Virginia.
Mike Warntjes, Senior Vice President, Operations, at Suntex Marinas, said:
“We are excited to gain a quality coastal product in the highly desirable Oxnard community
“Seaside Boatyard and Marina is the foundation to our future strategy around coastal growth in the Southern California market. With our planned improvements, we intend to bring an elevated customer experience for our members.”
Channel Islands Harbor is located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, approximately 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles International Airport. Home to more than 1,500 recreational boats and commercial fishing vessels, the Channel Islands Harbor is the gateway to the Channel Islands National Park and provides a full range of services for boaters and visitors.
Channel Islands Harbor was opened in 1965 and offers restaurants, various retail opportunities, single-family homes, condominiums, apartments and a hotel. The harbour is owned by Ventura County.
Bryan Redmond, CEO of Suntex Marinas, commented:
“The Boatyard – Channel Islands and its developer Greg Schem have done a tremendous job paving the way for the future in the Channel Island Harbor and we are proud to have the opportunity to expand on what Mr. Schem has created.
“Seaside Boatyard and Marina provides our first opportunity to expand into this highly desirable Southern California Market. Seaside will afford us the opportunity to develop and expand our regional presence and enable us to pursue more acquisitions in the near future.”
This is great news for the boaters of the Ventura County, California coast. The wider reach of Suntex is great. The boat repair market needs to be shaken up. Too many firms here can’t handle their business flow.
